Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, Mexico The year was 1999 and I dreamed of an apocalypse. While the neighbors were stocking up for Y2k, my family planned a trip to Mexico. I remember my Dad saying, "Well if it all goes to hell, we have a better chance of surviving there than here." I think he was more concerned about the shrimp and beer than the up coming dissent of society. When we arrived in Mexico in our beat up RV the excitement of New Year's Eve. My father tried to buy as many fireworks as he could get. When a salesmen offered to trade our beach chairs for fireworks my father jumped at the chance. That night I sat on the box with the sand beneath my toes. I don't remember being uncomfortable; only the sound of 'BIG BOOM LOTTA LIGHTS.' While the whole world waited the beach came alive with a sudden storm. All the kids on the beach secretly rooted for some big finale that would shift our entire existence. While Y2K turned out to be a joke what I felt that night was real. In the end it is the beauty of reality that stays with you.

Paris, France After graduating from High School my best friend Melissa and I went on a trip to Europe. It was an incredible adventure. Paris, however, holds the best memories. Together we walked through Versailles, flirted with French men, and drank champagne on the Eiffel Tower. It was a journey I will never forget.
