a lot of kids my age and mostly in my grade lived in my niegborhood. They were always playing outside and riding bikes and laughing and just being kids, but I was too shy and accustomed to being indoors to get to know them all very well

Working class, mostly Polish. Quiet, not much crime (that I can remember anyway). You got to know your neighbors in a way that no one really does anymore.
