I entered the world on an August summer Sunday. Family and friends were at a picnic over to William and Josephine Clements house. Included among them was Donald T. Moore the physician who delivered me and who would become my future play uncle. In the early 1960s, Lincoln hospital was one of the few hospitals in the South where African American physicians could go to do their training without suffering the indignity of racism. My father, and play uncles, I have multiple who were physicians at that same hospital at the same time, had gone there for that very reason. I came into the world feet first (breach) and have never the penchant for doing things "my way." In any case, perhaps I can trace some of the "ass-backwards" things I do to the fact that technically I came into the world that way.
