The World Without Us by Alan Weisman really opened my eyes to the effects of modern humanity on the planet and the reslience of nature. The book explores what would happen to the planet it humanity suddenly vanished. Weisman discusses what would happen to our existing infrastructure, which would be reclaimed by nature startlingly quickly. He also examines areas on the planet that, for various reasons, humanity has been forced to vacate, such as the DMZ between North and South Korea. Many of these areas that were affected greatly by the presence of humanity and stripped of plant and animal life were able to quickly bounce back in the absence of human presence.

Lord of the Flies, which sounds strange, but if you take it under seriousness and the way human nature is portrayed, it'll definitely change your view on a lot of things.
Since Eric made their story public, comments will be published publicly as well.
