I always wanted to be different from the people in my hometown. I always wanted to be more intelligent and to learn from those around me when I moved from Arkansas to Houston. I listened and learned from people whom I respected (one of them was my husband Alvin). I knew that life had much more to offer than what I had seen in Arkansas and I did not want to remain in that rut. It was determination to make 'something' of myself that I credit for helping me get where I am today. It was not without a lot of help from others. Much help from friends and also from people who were not my friends. Take knowledge where you find it!
