Describe your childhood home.

6th St, Midland City, AL 36350, USA Our family was a military family so we had many homes that could be called childhood homes. My older sister, Amy, might have a different home in her mind. I think, Julie, my little sister would agree with me on the place in Midland City. But let us start with the first one i can remember:
Fort Hood TX, I am thinking it was a ranch styled house with a large fenced in back yard. I remember beads hanging from the dining room to the living room. The living room had a green carpet on the wood floor. I remember it being a very large place, but it could have been because i was very small.
Schofield Barricks HI, this was our first house with stairs. We had a lani, sp, it was like back porch. We used to get red mongoose on it all the time that we could see out of the sliding glass door. I bounced off of that door a few times. Julie, too. Our back yard had banana trees along the house, but the grass was a purple sleeping grass with thorns. You could not walk around barefoot in the back yard. I don't recall playing back there too much.
Fort Polk LA, this house was similar to the house in HI, but I remember it feeling it was smaller. We had a living room; where Amy watched movies with her boy friends, but there was a den, too. I think most of us hung out there. You could look into the kitched from the den. That is the place that Julie wet her pants making stove top pudding; she was not supposed to have messed with the pudding.
Midland City, this was the place that i would consider the childhood home. I remember sleeping on the floor when we got there. We first say the house at night. It was soo big. Bigger i guess because it was empty. I remember playing Rummy cards with my Mom and everyone else. Our belongings were being shipped to us. We had two dogs, Suzuki and Jazz, that had made the move with us. The walls were dark panel thought out. The converted garage to den had a bricking in the corner that had a wood burning stove like fire place. It had a huge yard with lots of trees, mostly pine that would be soon cut down. It may have been the first home that i had my own room. I could be mistaken on this. In my room were bunk beds and all my toys in a perpetual tornadic activity scattered across my floor. My hamsters atop my dresser. I later moved into the living room proper. My Dad had sealed off the door to the kitchen and den to enclose the room. i think it had a fiery red and orange shag carpet, but that was also gone. He let me pick my wall color, tidewater; near aqua marine. it was like being underwater, and was always cooler feeling than the rest of the house. It still looked like a tornado zone...

What food brings back childhood memories?

Potato Soup. It was an evening that Jason Hughes stayed the night at the house. I am not sure where Mom was at, but she was not home with us. She has made the soup in advance and we were eating it as left overs. Dad had gotten home from work and dished out three bowls of soup for us to eat. Jason, however, did not enjoy potato soup. But my Dad had placed the bowl in front of him nonetheless. We engaged in small talk my Dad embellishing a good bit of his stories. We got around to talking about how the soup tasted soo good. Jason trying to be polite said that he had enjoyed it, too. So my Dad dished him out another bowl and nuked it warm for him to enjoy again. Jason ate two bowls of the stuff he did not like out of good grace, fear, or intimidation. : )
