Is there an object you have held on to from your childhood?

I still have my two ventriloquist dolls...Mortimer Snerd and Lester. I wish I still had all my Barbies but my Mom sold them when I went into the Army!!!
I also have my violin I got from my Uncle Jim that I played since Jr. High School.

When did you learn to play an instrument and which was it?

When I was 10 years old and in 4th grade I began playing the violin. I didn't like to practice much and could have been much better if I had. I was in the orchestra throughout school and a member of county orchestra. Mr. David Leithman was my teacher.

Describe the neighborhood where you grew up.

I lived in Ironville from the age of 11 mths. till I was 18 years old. I lived on Holly Drive and my childhood friends lived in Ironville. The church was on the same street and I was very involved with choir, youth group, and Bible School. I married both of my husbands here and Lindsay got married here, too! The neighborhood swimming pool, Twin Oaks, was right down the street. We had a family pass every year and that's where I would spend much of my summer. The cemetery where my Dad is resting is just up the street from my childhood home. This is where, I too, will be when my time on earth is through.

Describe something mischievous you did as a child.

I remember when I was around 12, I used to take a cigarette out of my mom's pack and hide it in a band-aid tin. I would go down the bottom of our yard and hide under a tree and smoke it.

What kind of student were you?

I always enjoyed being a student...and continued studying throughout my life. I did well in grade school and high school, getting mostly A's and some B's. I could have studied more in high school but I was very active in extra-curricular activities and sometimes put that over studying! I am completing my RN degree as of this writing and hold a 3.87 GPA.
