When I was in junior high, I enjoyed playing left field in baseball because where I grew up on the military side of O'Hare Field, there were more males than females. When we moved to Wisconsin, when I was 14, I enjoyed playing field hockey.

There is an amusing thing: when I grew up in our country the most popular team sports were hockey and bandy, we boys bend our hockey-sticks' crooks and bind em up with tape and fiberglass but astonishingly we played the game most often not on the hockey-rings but on well-beaten-snow spots and even when we played on ice, noone wore skates! I rememeber very well the moment when we started to play in skates and it was awesome.. We counter guys from other blocks, we were bona fide hockey team! And it was greatest pleasure to skate alone at night at empty neighboring hockey-box .. one of the brightest experiences I had those days and ever
