Where did you grow up?

Gilbert, AZ 85234, USA I spent most of my childhood in Gilbert, AZ. It is a large, sprawling suburbia now, but when I moved there, development was just starting. There were still plentiful farms, fields, and dirt hills for us to play in. The smell of fertilizer occasionally permeated the air.... It is a smell that, in moderation and from a distance, makes me nostalgic to this day. It had a lot of the charm of a small town, despite not being that small. They had annual town parades and the schools would take you to the local museum and go on and on about town history. You could tell they were very proud of where they lived.

Where do you live now?

Phoenix, AZ 85040, USA I live in Phoenix, AZ. I chose the house I live in because it a decent size at a great price. I can play music at my full volume with my band at all hours of the night with no complaints from neighbors. Such freedom has done wonders for my creativity and musical productivity.

When have you performed in front of an audience?

December 13, 2002 Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730, USA Nowdays, constantly. I play out at least once a week with my bands Analog Society and 88MPH. I have continuously been in bands since 2007.
My first time performing to the public was on Dec, 13 2002 at a coffee place called Java the Hutt with Trepanation, my first band. We were a really amateurish grunge band who listened to a LOT of Nirvana and Mudhoney. We had been practicing for about 6-8 months by that point and had secured that gig like a month or so in advance. I was so nervous. What if people hated it? What if no one showed up? We had enough time to practice to the best of our abilities and promote and hype it up to all our friends.
On the day of the show, We showed up and there were over 60+ people trying to get in the small coffee shop. Some had to wait outside and look in the windows. That definitely helped my nerves. But still.... What if we screw up? What if we embarass ourselves? Only playing would tell.
We started our set with Nirvana's "Radio Friendly Unit Shifter", completely drenched in feedback and pounding drums. After the freakout ending, the noise ceased, and there was a split second of silence, which seemed like an eternity. Then the entire crowd erupted in cheers and clapping. Granted, they were probably just being polite, especially the parents, but that was all i needed to cure any stage fright from ever happening again. Ive porbably played over 100 shows over the last 9 years since then, and I almost never get nervous anymore. The only exception was the first time I played on the radio. It was just local indie radio, but I felt like it was such a big step for me, but even thats all old hat now.

Has your picture been in the newspaper?

1993 Gilbert, AZ 85234, USA Once as a kid. My entire elementary wore red white and blue shirts and arranged into a large american flag. It was in the Gilbert Tribune. I still have a copy of it somewhere.

What's the worst injury you've had?

November 16, 2002 Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730, USA I was hit by a car while riding my bike home from a friends house. It was Saturday, Nov 16th, 2002. I was at Josh's house having a jam session, when my mom called and demanded that I come home for some reason, I dont remember what. It was only about a mile away, but it was still irritating that I had to leave. I reluctantly left Josh's garage, got on my bike and started begrudgingly pedaling home. It was about 5-50pm and dusk was creeping in. It wasnt quite sunset, but the sky was getting a bit dark.

I got about three quarters of the way home, then i woke up.

From what, I wasnt sure at first. But then I was on my back and I notced flashing lights. Things were starting to become clear. I was on a stretcher being loaded into an ambulance. I was so confused. I wasnt even in pain and I remembered nothing. I asked the first person I saw what happened. "Ya got hit by a car" he replied. I let an exaperated sigh. That was the last thing I needed.
I was taken to a hospital where I fully realized that i wasnt completely unscathed. Apparently at the scene, I peed myself and was supposedly frothing at the mouth, indicating a possible seizure. Luckily, all head and brain scans turned up clean. I didnt have a scratch on my head. The shock was wearing off and the pain was starting to kick in. My left leg had a massive bruise starting at my hip going all the way down to my knee, and blood was pooling in my foot. I also had road rash along my right side and right elbow. From what I could tell, the Van that hit me hit my left leg and I skidded on my right side. They had to scrape gravel out of my elbow with saline solution and a brillo pad, and had to check me rectally for internal bleeding. Fun times.
Despite the unnerving situation, That was the extent of the damage... a few scabs and a big bruise. Nothing broken. I couldnt walk for 3 days, but I was back at school Tuesday and walking without crutches by that wednesday.

Denver, CO, USA

What is your earliest memory?

1985 Denver, CO, USA I dont know if this is a manufactured memory, of it was real, but I do seem to remember looking up at my dad in a hospital as either an infant or a new born. Its just a blur of an image, but I dont think i made it up. I also have fleeting memories of my first few years living in Denver, watching sesame street in the mornings, and watching other shows such as Hey Vern, Its Ernest and Pee Wee's Playhouse. All this is before i was 4 years old. I remember how the house looked when i was living there, and finding it on Google Street View further reenforced those memories.

Describe your childhood home.

90 W San Pedro Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85233, USA My childhood home in which i spent my formative years is the place i miss more than any other single place. Not because it was the nicest house ever, although it was nice, but because of the flashbacks conjured every time i even think about the years and experiences associated with that house.
If i remember correctly, we moved in sometime around Jan 1992 when i was 6 years old. I have to divide my 1st grade between 2 schools. It was a pretty nice house even looking back on it.... 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a basement. It is still my ideal layout for a house. My parents hadthe upstairs master bedroom, while Marley and I had the 2 bedrooms in the fully furnished basement. This wasnt the stereotypical cold, dank cellar of a basement. There was carpeting, drywall and a bathroom. Other than the fire escapes leading out of the bedrooms, there was no indication it was a basement at all. This was my domain.
After we were supposed to be in bed for the next school day, I would be up until what seemed like extremely late hours for me (more than likely only1-2am, and early night for me now, seeing as it is 5:33am as of typing this.) My imaginiation and sense of wonder were so overactive in those years, i would either be drawing, building cardboard starship models, making oldies mixtapes, listening to the Art Bell Show, or just scanning AM radio stations for anything of interest or even just listening to the swirling static. (I had a penchant for the psychedelic even then!) I learned to get along very well on my own, and as a result i was not very social... Thats not to say that I did'nt have friends, which i had a few great friends whom I am still in regular contact with, although thay have moved out of state/country.

What food brings back childhood memories?

90 W San Pedro Ave, Gilbert, AZ 85233, USA I would have to say that a simple homemade charcoal grilled steak is the thing that mostly reminds me of my childhood, in particular, my elementary school years growing up in Gilbert. Even the smell of charcoal and the ritual of getting the fire started is enough to make me feel nostalgic.
