Timothy McVeigh planted a bomb outside of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City. The explosion killed 168 people, including 19 children.

Actress and dancer Ginger Rogers passed away. Light on her feet, Rogers became Fred Astaire's dance partner in Flying Down to Rio in 1933. The two made nine more films together.
